Special focus
BIOSPARK builds on the achievements of the BIObec initiative — turning a pioneering pilot into a permanent, EU-wide backbone for bioeconomy education.
Where it started
BIObec set the blueprint for Bio-Based Education Centres in Europe. It tested how regional hubs can connect universities, industry and public actors around shared bioeconomy learning goals, and demonstrated their value as catalysts for skills, innovation and regional growth.
Where it goes next
BIOSPARK scales the model to every EU Member State. With 27 BBECs and 18 partners, it transforms the BIObec pilot into a continent-wide, interoperable knowledge network with shared standards, joint programmes and long-term governance.
Continuity
BIObec's curriculum frameworks are extended, refined and adopted across 27 BBECs.
BIObec's communities of practice grow into a structured pan-European network.
Shared quality criteria, micro-credentials and assessment tools become EU-wide assets.
